There’s nothing like a lovely bit of stationery to revive the desire to put pen to paper. Deliciously crisp writing paper, a good pen, lovely art supplies and a journal may seem like an archaic pleasure in our computer-driven times, but there’s something about the tangibility of these things that makes them special.

National Stationery Week is an annual event falling on 27 April – 3 May, supported by Royal Mail and the National Literary Trust. The aim is to get people writing, be it a letter to a loved one or a hand-written story. Why not treat yourself to a new bit of stationery this National Stationery Week and get scribbling!

Here are ten delicious pieces of stationery, either recycled or handmade, to get you inspired:

Foxglove small journal, £15, Folksy
This beautiful foxglove journal is designed by Clare Ashton. She hand-makes the felt in her studio in the Pennines from British Blue Faced Leicester wool and then screen prints this little fellow from her own drawings. The printed felt is then sewn onto an organic cotton lining.

Set of Six Love Birds Recycled Postcards, £5.95, Claryce Design
These lovely vintage postcards have a pretty spring feel to them and are part of Claryce Design’s 100% recycled stationery range. The postcards feature an old lithograph of a couple of love birds layered over the reverse of a vintage photograph.

Baby foot or hand print rubber stamp, £18, Folksy
A beautiful way to put your baby’s mark on a card or gift. A stamp of their foot or hand print which can be reused as many times as you’d like. Designed by Clare Freemantle, who can also add a name to the print if you’d like.

The set contains 4 pages of 100% recycled white writing paper, each with a different bird (crested tit, long tailed tit, bearded tit, blue tit). Beautiful Handmade Paper, Khadi Papers
Fifteen years ago Khadi Papers set up their own handmade paper mill in India with a partner, Vasudevan. Vasudevan was previously manager at the Handmade Paper Institute in Pune, a training institute for the whole of India, and knew plenty about making paper! Their beautiful paper comes in two ranges: rag papers are made from 100% cotton rag; Himalayan papers are made from the bark fibre of lokta (daphne bholua) or mitsumata (edgewothia papyrefera), native plants which grow at high altitude in the Himalayan forests and are a renewable resource. Beautiful coloured papers that are a real decadent pleasure to use.
