EVENT and LEARN Keep on the Grass
The first National Meadows Day was held last year, and celebrated the country’s grasslands and fields, with events taking place across the UK. This Saturday’s is set to be even bigger, with craft workshops, photography and barefoot walks, open days with family activities and guided tours taking place at nature reserves and country parks. Find an event near you here

EVENT Nature Kids
Enter a magical world inspired by nature at the fourth Forest of Imagination event. The all-free festival blurs the boundary between city and countryside with art installations and workshops; come face-to-face with giant spiders, or immerse yourselves in 3D soundscapes. Perhaps try a sensory science trail, make your own cocoon, or shape-shift into an ant and go on a quest. Full programme here . The event is aligned with Re-imagining Childhood, a conference that brings together a wonderful group of leading thinkers and creative professionals to explore the possibility of a different kind of childhood for our children, one that values the power of the imagination.

COOK Sip on This
Make every hour happy with some kid-friendly ‘cocktails’. These frozen-cherry-and-sparkling-water drinks are low in sugar and fun to make, while this almond milk and strawberry concoction is creamy and delicious . Older kids might prefer these more sophisticated herb-based recipes. Design a menu together and teach your children to make their own.

LEARN, PLAY and DO Chill Out
Our kids can’t resist picking up an interesting looking pebble from the side of the road, and we’ve built up quite a collection. A beautiful stone or three can make a pretty piece of art, become a pet rock, or make a cherished set of story stones. Out and about on the beach, create some giant stone stacking art

EVENT So So
The UK’s biggest, free, family-friendly festival, So, hits Lincolnshire this weekend. Enjoy hilarious and breathtaking street performances, brush up your circus skills, and high-kick your way through the dance routine from A Chorus Line. Plus there’s a free screening of Handel’s opera, Semele. Join a pop-up choir beforehand to be part of the chorus that will kick off proceedings. More here.
