EVENT Tate Tech
There’s an incredible day of playful digital workshops and immersive experiences at Tate Britain this Saturday – Imagine If. Use live coding tools to improvise animated visuals in real time, play a motion-sensor orchestra, explore emotion-tracking and photography and be inspired by the Antony Gormley display to create a playful city using your body. This intersection of cutting-edge tech and emotive art will make for a inspirational, horizon-broadening experience for all ages. Free.

DO, MAKE, LEARN All Yellow
Our poor daffodils have taken a beating this winter, but their golden heads are still just about nodding. The burst of yellow is more cheering than ever after March’s lion roar; find a National Trust spot full of them near you here or in a garden here. Alternatively, make your own! Find lots of inspirational, daffodil-based lesson plans here and a spectacular experiment for toddlers (or anyone who likes creating strangely coloured blooms) here

MAKE Get Shirty
It’s fun and thrifty to repurpose and customise old (and new) T-shirts for both kids and adults. This year, we’ve vowed to learn more about screen printing – there’s a good kid-friendly method here. More simply, we also love the idea of making these feather-printed shirts, a hammered leaf print, or a misty, fern frond silhouette design. These eyeball and rib cage ideas are more out-there, and, if you want to change the silhouette of your garment completely try this clever way of lacing an over-sized shirt, or even make a superhero cape!

EVENT Lights Out
Celebrate your commitment to the planet by marking Saturday’s WWF’s Earth Hour. From 8.30pm–9.30pm office buildings across the world, from cottages to skyscrapers, will turn off their non-essential lights. Perhaps you could mark the occasion in an exciting way with your family; go stargazing in the park, play board games by candlelight, explore your garden by torchlight, or go and marvel at the spectacle of a city a little darker than usual. Or check online for organised events near you.

FORAGE and COOK Smell to Get Well
It’s wild garlic season! We’ve spotted (and smelt) the glossy green leaves starting to spread into a carpet in our favourite wood. The leaves are at their most tender at this time of year - find information about them here, and they’re incredibly healthy too! Garlic pesto is one of the simplest ways to eat them, but we love this Wild Garlic Cornbread recipe, and can’t wait to try Spinach, Wild Garlic and Ricotta Malfatti, or Wild Garlic Hummus.
