If there’s ever a time to ditch the full face of make-up and just-so hair, a festival is it. We love beauty products that are easy to pack, are multi-functional, and that the whole family can use. But don’t take our word for it. We asked Green Parent readers to tell us about their summer party essentials

Mimi Carter: “Neal’s Yard Wild Rose Beauty Balm is my must-have. It removes makeup, is a fantastic moisturiser, and can even be used on burns and super dry patches! After the event you can use it as a gorgeous face mask to unwind and restore your tired skin. It’s a wonder.”

Lara Marsh: “A Mooncup is perfect if you have your period whilst you’re at a festival, practise using it before if you can as they can take a little practice, but they’re great as you can just use a bottle of water to rinse it and you’re sorted.”

Hannah Sparks: “I always take biodegradable wet wipes and Weleda’s Skin Food, Foot Balm and Citrus Deodorant which doubles up as a bug spray.”

Natural Mumma: “Pack lavender essential oil – apply neat to cuts, bites and sunburn. Dilute it with water for a gentle facial cleanser.”

Sarah Howlett: “I love Lush’s No Drought dry shampoo. If you can’t be bothered to queue for the showers, it sorts out greasy hair, and kids love shaking it on then creating crazy hairstyles.”

Holly Mann: “Full make up is way too much faff for festivals. I make do with a tinted day cream and perhaps a slick of mascara. I like Dr. Haushka’s Tinted Day Cream – it’s really moisturising.”

Denise Stanborough: “MOA’s The Green Balm is amazing. It’s made with organic yarrow, and you can use it a as a moisturiser, make-up remover, to soothe bites and stings, and even as a post-piercing and tattoo after-care cream, in case you get really carried away!”

Earth Based Fun: “We, on average, work and play at around five festivals every summer and I don’t even take my makeup! Baby wipes, glitter, more baby wipes, more glitter and a bucket.”
