Swimming is one of the most amazing experiences you can share with your baby. Here are some tips from puddleducks.com

Pools should be warm, clean and well-managed. If you can’t find a warm pool, use a neoprene wrap that acts as a little wet suit.

Double nappy systems help to prevent leaks! The under nappy can be a re-usable swim nappy. A neoprene over-nappy then prevents any leakage from the under nappy actually getting into the pool. These are all your baby needs to wear.

Bring a changing mat or towel to lay on the floor poolside to help get your baby into the pool and to change your baby on after the session.

If your baby is tired or hungry, then they are unlikely to enjoy swimming. For breast or bottlefed babies, there is no problem feeding them immediately before or after swimming, but for babies on solids, we advise a light snack an hour before swimming.

Focus on your baby and stay relaxed. Float your baby with support under their head, swaying from side to side. Finally, enjoy the peace and quiet when you get home as your baby has a wonderful sleep! Specialist swimming schools, such as Puddle Ducks, may be a more enjoyable way to take your baby swimming. The best classes have a clear structure, provide an enriching environment for the parent and baby to strengthen their bond and create happy memories.
