MAKE A BELTANE HEADBAND

You will need (for the Green Men):

An A3 piece of green or gold card

Tissue paper in different shades of green

Gold tissue paper

A piece of cardboard (such as a cereal packet) to make a template

Glue

Sellotape or staples

Scissors

What to do:

1. Cut a strip lengthways into the A3 piece of card about 5cm deep. Measure it around your child’s head, and secure either with sellotape or by stapling it (if stapling, ensure the edges of the staples are on the outside of the band, rather than pressing against your child’s head).

2. Draw a leaf shape onto the cardboard and cut out carefully. Use as a template – lay flat on the tissue paper and draw around it to make 20 or more leaves in different shades of green. Then do the same on the gold tissue paper, cutting out about 10-15 gold leaves.

3. Dab a bit of glue at one end of the leaves and stick around the card so that the points of the leaves face upward. Layer the green leaves over one another to cover the card headband as much as possible. Then add the gold leaves on top, spacing them out so that you can still see the green leaves beneath.

4. Your crown is ready to wear! Go leap about in the garden, little Green Man!

You will need (for the Goddesses):

An A3 piece of pink, yellow or gold card

Tissue paper in different shades of yellow, pink and blue

Coloured ribbon

A piece of cardboard (such as a cereal packet) to make a template

Glue

Sellotape or staples

Scissors

What to do:

1. Follow step one above.

2. Draw a flower shape onto the cardboard and cut carefully. Use as a template – lay flat on the tissue paper and draw around it to make 20 or more flowers in yellow, pink and blue.

3. Dab a bit of glue in the middle of the flowers and stick around the card headband. Layer the flowers over one another to cover the card headband as much as possible.

4. Lay the ribbon flat on a work surface and carefully dab on glue. Apply to the headband, wrapping it around and sticking it as you go.

5. Your Goddess headband is complete – enjoy!
